Think Treasure Island marks the end of San Francisco’s festival season? This year, there’s a new challenger approaching: BayviewLIVE, a street festival that celebrates one of the city’s most often overlooked neighborhoods.

Bayview doesn’t quite have the cool cachet like its eastern neighbors The Mission or Potrero Hill, which is precisely why it needs a music festival like this. Organized by Imprint.City, a nonprofit that brings arts programs, STEAM education, and other economic opportunities to The Bayview, BayviewLIVE was created with the aim of drawing attention to SF’s less-traveled — and subsequently, underserved — neighborhoods. And it’s hard to ignore a lineup like this: On deck is Equipto, DJ Future, and lots more. The big draw is the always-dapper Jidenna, whom you might know from our praising of his Outside Lands set, this year’s Grammy nomination, or his recent appearance on Netflix’s Luke Cage.

BayviewLIVE also features the usual festival trappings like food trucks, face painting, and activities for kids. It all starts at noon on October 22.

So come out, come out, wherever you are, San Franciscans, and venture to the other side of 101 for once. It’ll do you good to get to know your neighbors.
