violent change

VC3, the third LP from Violent Change, is a fuzzy, noisy delight. Orders began shipping on September 16 via Melters. It is also streaming on Melter’s Bandcamp page, where the record is drawing comparisons to Chris Bell. I am not hearing it, but VC’s love for Guided by Voices is all over this music. The beautiful simplicity of a fuzzed guitar line is given its freedom to play alone for more than a few bars before the vocals layer over majestically.

Matt “Gladys” Bleyle remains the primary songwriter and player. Alexa Pantalone and Stanley Martinez (aka the dueling saxophone players in The World) did some of the recording. Alexa and Stanley have also started a record label recently — It Takes Too — and will co-release VC3 alongside The Shifters, Honey Radar, and the first recordings from The World.

Don’t miss Violent Change live. They play tomorrow tomorrow night at Milk Bar. Death Records put this “Deanstock” show together to support Dean Preston for Supervisor of District 5. The stellar lineup also includes Sonny Smith (Sonny & the Sunsets), Swiftumz, Healing Potpourri, Friendless Summer, DJ Hether Fortune (Wax Idols), and comedy by Christopher John.
