Not to brag or anything, but we have an advance of M. Lockwood Porter‘s new record, How To Dream Again, and YOU GUYS. IT IS SO GOOD. AN ALL-CAPS KIND OF GOOD.
Though he’s written a couple ragers in the past, the new record is far more consistently up-tempo than we’re used to from Porter. After spending his last album dreading the close of his 20s, on How To Dream Again he seems to have just said ‘fuck it’ and is going after a sound he’s always been toying with. Vacillating between his usual strummed introspection and riotous call-to-arms numbers, How To Dream Again is poised to be one of our favorites of the year.
Today, we’re thrilled to bring you your first listen of “The Future Ain’t What It Used To Be.” Showcasing an anthemic, Springsteen-ian chorus paired up with classic patriotic rage, “The Future Ain’t What It Used To Be” is one of Porter’s strongest works.
Porter is bringing the new record to the public at The Independent tomorrow night. You’d be wise not to miss it.
