The multi-faceted soul jams of Grace Jones and Blood Orange will fill the The Greek tomorrow night in Berkeley.
One of those giant bills that pops up in the Bay surrounding a SoCal festival (in this case FYF Fest, where both will perform on Sunday), these worldly artists are taking the opportunity to give back to one of the most vibrant music cultures in the country at a breathtaking venue.
Jones, who has been in and out of music, modeling, and acting since the ’70s, is experiencing a second wind in her expansive career after an extended period of taking a break after struggling to make waves in the ’90s and early 2000s. She has recently also added being an author to her resume, publishing her autobiography last year.
Blood Orange, one of producer Devonte Hynes’ more successful projects, has been riding in the wake of popular music for over a decade. With Blood Orange’s third album Freetown Sound, which was just released in June, he is coming out from under the radar and becoming a major presence in the popular music scene.
