It’s no secret that Outside Lands is extremely difficult to get in, especially this year. In its ninth iteration, tickets for this year’s Golden Gate Park festival went on sale before the lineup was even released, and as tickets quickly sold out, many had to resort bucking up and buying exorbitantly-priced second-hand passes or seeking out other options, i.e. cry about not being able to cry to “Let Down” or simply move on. If you’re not cramming into one of those shuttles this time, here is one of those options: Inclusive Lands.

Organized by the new community space Peninsula DIY, Inclusive Lands, well, wants you to feel included. When music festivals can often be a harrowing place for marginalized folks, the group prides themselves on creating a safe space above all. But hey, let’s not forget about the second most important thing: the celebration of local music, art, and culture. For their first ever block party and artist showcase, they’re bringing the people together with music by Future Shapes and others, poetry by Juliana Chang and Christina Michelle S, installations by Callie Robertson and Parallax, a short film by Lindsay Rodriguez, and a dance performance by Jane Sun and friends. Plus, there are a whole slew of community organizations you can say hi to along the way. Take it from them: “For just $8, you can dance, laugh, cry, make friends, feel supported, and build community all sunny Saturday, as part of our Bay Area collective,” but they stress that no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Take it to a different outside next weekend, and be one with a delectable slice of Bay Area creators.
