You may know of Japanese band WagakkiBand from their YouTube hit “Senbonazkura” or have heard of them before as they are only now embarking on their first U.S. tour, but they’re worth your time to seek out. The band played at The Fillmore last Saturday night, July 16, 2016. Their music fuses Shigin, poetry recitation rooted in Japanese traditional performing arts, Wagakki, traditional Japanese instruments and an infusion of modern rock. Our photographer Robert Alleyne has this eclectic gallery of photos from the show and also has to share that the sounds made were mind-blowing, both the crowd and the band were in high energy and made for something that was more than a usual concert but a show in every sense of the word.
