“I lowkey have a crush on Crush (from Oakland) because they crush it,” is something I and many other people have said while in the crowd of a Crush show. Because everyone loves cheesy jokes when they’re drunk and watching a great band.
It’s as though we can let go of the beers we use as emotional crutches when the music makes you feel better than the alcohol. Maybe it is the alcohol that we chugged to pause our insecurities when we got to the space, maybe it’s them, because for me at least, the moment they come on I throw away my crutch since I no longer need it. I feel safe in the crowd when they’re playing, and isn’t that music should do?
They recently released a video for “Soviet Life” (watch that below) which has already gotten love from Impose, SF Weekly, and now from us at The Bay Bridged. I’m super excited for their show with Pinegrove tomorrow, since Sports who are signed to local label Father/Daughter are also playing, over all it’s a stacked lineup at a great venue. If you didn’t get tickets, go like Crush on Facebook, because you can easily see them elsewhere and soon. Also they’re currently working on a album and I’m stoked to soon hear it.
