I caught Sex Stains last year at Burger A-Go-Go. At the time I had no idea what to expect: I didn’t even know that Allison Wolfe of classic riot-grrl band Bratmobile was in the band. And not only her, but esteemed dancer/choreographer Mecca Vazie Andrews on lead vocals, David Orlando on drums (known for his weekly parties, Dub Club and Punky Reggae), and guitarist Sharif Dumani and bassist Pachy Garcia. They mix energetic and catchy political punk, spoken word, and performance art all into one, creating something only they could have ever imagined and succeeded in making.

So finding out that they were coming to the Bay and playing Sgraffito Gallery in Oakland with Quaaludes  on June 13th and the Chapel with Cherry Glazerr  June 14 made me hysterically overjoyed. So if you want to see some bands that are making noise with purpose, musicians who have influenced thousands of girls and non-conformers: go to one of these shows.
