There is a certain kind of punk rock out there that just…never changes. And that’s not a bad thing.
San Francisco’s Pity Party is a prime example of that kind of music (think about it. You can hear it in your head right now, can’t you?). This — particularly the opening track, “Peter Frampton (In East Oakland)” — could have been released in 1996, 2006, or 2016, and it would have sounded of-the-now in any decade. So long as angst exists, there will be breakneck, screaming, sweaty punk rock.
