Santa Rosa’s The Vibrating Antennas is just about ready to release their second full length State of the Art, set for an April 30 release on San Francisco based Don’t Look Down Records, and today, we’re excited to give you a first listen into a new track from the album. Like so many of the bands we come across form the North Bay, they play their music loud, but The Vibrating Antennas hold back just a touch to give their music a feeling of cool composure. On “Westward Drag”, we have walls of distorted guitars, heavy bass, and a climactic vocal outro that seems more desperate than a simple call for wine. Check it out below:
State of the Art was written by the trio in late 2014, but only recently recorded at Grizzly Studios in Petaluma from January to March of this year. They were basically given free reign of the studio, and each song is a live one-take track, with vocals added later. The Vibrating Antennas have a pair of Bay Area shows over the next couple of weeks, first Friday night at Gilman with Shook Ones followed by a performance at The Last Record Store in Santa Rosa April 30 with Cursed Graves. On your way out, here’s a video for “The Tourist”, which will also appear on State of the Art.
