Nine years after Radiohead became the first music act to play at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park after dark at the first Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival, the celebrated English band will return for the festival’s ninth annual go-around. Electronic rock band LCD Soundsystem will headline a second night, while R&B crooner Lionel Richie was named as a surprising third headliner of the festival, which is presented by Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly and Starr Hill.
The 2016 bill includes Duran Duran, J. Cole, Lana Del Rey, Ryan Adams, Oakland songstress Kehlani, Grimes, Vince Staples, and and a even a special performance by The Muppets’ Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem in their first-ever live festival performance. Oakland soul musician Fantastic Negrito is back in the lineup following last year’s unfortunate ticket-scalping incident. The entire lineup is listed below.
The festival will be held August 5 to 7 at Golden Gate Park. Single-day and three-day tickets will go on sale Thursday at 10am at www.SFOutsideLands.com. A portion of every ticket sold will directly benefit San Francisco’s Recreation and Park Department.
Along with the many music acts, entertainment will include the return of Taste of the Bay Area, Wine Lands, Beer Lands, The Back Wine, the Festival Market Place, Outsider Art, Eco Lands, GastroMagic music and food collaboration stage, and The Barbary, featuring comedy and cabaret. Roughly 210,000 attended Outside Lands in 2015.
