Pickathon 2016
Pickathon, one of the faster-growing West Coast music festivals, announced new additions this week to its lineup, which already featured a number of current and former Bay Area artists.

Included among the fresh acts for the event, which takes place on a farm outside of Portland, are San Francisco’s Thao and the Get Down Stay Down, who will join the likes of Oakland’s Ezra Furman and Moon Duo of San Francisco in repping the Bay Area at the four-day event. That’s not to mention heavy-hitters like Ty Segall (backed by his ghoulish Muggers) and Thee Oh Sees, both of whom used to call San Francisco home.

Pickathon is a unique festival experience, with bands playing multiple times at different stages throughout the event. This year’s event is headlined by Jeff Tweedy, Wolf Parade, and Beach House. Tweedy and Wolf Parade are scheduled to play twice at Pickathon, as are acts like Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, Yo La Tengo, and Mac DeMarco. Programmed-music superstar Dan Deacon — an eviscerating live performer — is set to take the stage three times. All the musicians perform in intimate setting, on stages that blend in seamlessly with the bucolic natural environment.

The event will kick off Thursday, August 4, and last through Sunday, August 7. Tickets are still available and Portland is only a quick airplane ride from the Bay Area. It’s far from the glitz of Coachella or the vastness of Bonaroo, but Pickathon is quickly making its name known among major North American music festivals.

Single and multi-day tickets are still available for Pickathon, and can be purchased here.
