This Week In PR is a column curated by Victor Valle and Jody Amable, celebrating the press releases that caught our eye but we couldn’t use. Here are some highlights from our inboxes this week.
A Giant Dog’s “Get With You And Get High”
I kind of can’t stop listening to this song, so I need to inflict it on other people. Dig the dreamy grooves of A Giant Dog’s “Get With You And Get High.” —JA
Daniel Romano’s “Valerie Leon”
I don’t normally base my musical decisions on looks, but something about this guy’s wild hair and ever-so-slightly ill-fitting track jacket told me he was exactly the kind of oddball whose music I’d be into. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but I was still right. Something about “Valerie Leon” takes me back to my dad’s record collection that I was raised on. —JA
And…An Icelandic Volcano Party
The subject line said it all: “World’s First Public Performance Inside A Volcano Announced By Iceland’s Secret Solstice Festival.” Iceland is the hot new off-the-beaten-path tourist destination, and I’ve been wanting to visit, but my anxiety-addled brain has no interest in attending a music festival inside a volcano, thanks. “Guests will be transported from Iceland’s capital city Reykjavík to the entrance of the Thrihnukagigur volcano via helicopter (or a short hike in the case of low visibility for aircraft) before descending via an open elevator to a depth greater the height of the Statue Of Liberty – around 400ft – into the inactive magma chamber.” Inactive or not, all of that sounds like a big NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE to me, but if you are a more adventurous type, you can snag one of the 20 tickets available. Have fun. Don’t die. —JA
