I don’t listen to much Phish, but Oakland-based Pistachio certainly have some musical elements in common with the jam-band legends: eccentric song structures, excellent musicianship, a loose, fun feeling to even the most complex arrangements. Their latest offering “Damn You, Thunderhead” exemplifies all these qualities and the fact that the band excels in genre alchemy, turning a hodgepodge of seemingly contradictory styles into groovy rock and roll gold.

You can expect more eclectic compositions on their upcoming LP Explorer slated to drop March 15th. After that, you can help the group celebrate their album release party at the Starline Social Club on Friday March 18.
