Download: Live This Month: January 2016 (Podcast #378)
In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area.
This month’s episode introduces some new local bands to our podcast, including the surf-pop of Spooky Mansion and psych-rock from Smokin’ Ziggurats. We’ve also included a mid-podcast three-song set of local heaviness, including Sexless, Life Stinks, and Bosse-De-Nage.
Life Stinks is one of two bands in this mix playing at SS15, a weekend of shows commemorating fifteen years of NorCal label Ss Records. Over its tenure, the label has released albums and singles from an impressive array of garage, rock, and punk outsiders, including A Frames, Hank IV, Andy Human, Dan Melchior, and many others. Other highlights this month include the first West Coast tour for buzzed-about duo PWR BTTM, the return of The Go! Team with a great new album, and a ridiculously catchy song by LA’s Shark Toys.
Last, but certainly not least, we’re throwing a party at the Rickshaw Stop to celebrate ten years of The Bay Bridged. We’ve got a great lineup for the evening, including The Stone Foxes, Annie Girl & The Flight, John Vanderslice, and Hot Flash Heat Wave, and it’s going to be a ton of fun. Buy your tickets now!
Enjoy the podcast and then go see some concerts!
