We’re still reeling at how good they were headlining Noise Pop’s 20th Street Block Party in September, but there are tons of new goodies in the world of local twang-rock heroes Thao & the Get Down Stay DownWe’ll start you off with a cute little video, courtesy of their label Ribbon Music. That’ll get things going.

Yes, if you watched ’til the end of the video, you saw the good news: Thao Nguyen and the gang will be releasing a new album next spring, the follow-up to 2013’s robust and danceable We The Common. If you need a refresher, here’s the infectious title track from that record, inspired by an inmate Nguyen met while volunteering at the California Coalition for Women Prisoners.

And one more thing from the Nguyen camp. If you haven’t already put your New Year’s plans together, they’ll be joining the Decemberists for an intimate NYE show in San Francisco. This will be the latter band’s first headlining show in San Francisco proper since 2008, touring behind their record What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World. Thao & the Get Down Stay Down will be extensively touring next year, but no Bay Area dates have been announced yet. You can check out more information on the New Year’s show below.
