San Francisco’s own budding indie rock quartet Blossom recently dropped a trippy new music video for their track “Weirdspell” via online music outlet Groundsounds. The band, who are working on their first LP, formed in 2014 and draws heavy influences from 80’s alternative rock acts like The Smiths and The Cure.
Started by close friends, Ryan, Jay, Brian, and Jacob, Blossom recently began playing shows around the Bay Area in support of their upcoming album also titled Weirdspells.
“The song “Weirdspell” is about feeling unsure, and weird about life, so we tried to convey that same feeling in the video,” the band told Groundsounds. “We spoke with Jet Caputo about the idea behind the song and realized that we wanted the video to be visibly abrasive so you could really translate the images to the lyrics. Overall we wanted people to be able to get a feel for the theme of the album in images.”
Catch Blossom next Wednesday when they play a free show at The Depot on San Francisco State University’s campus alongside local groups Talk of Shamans, Tino Drima, and Seemway.
