Oakland’s Meernaa is a new trio from Oakland formed by Carly Bond and Rob Shelton of the now-inactive DRMS. Although they’ve only released a single track, “Constant Love”, you can tell good things from Meernaa are on the way. Everything about the track is unique – the highs and lows of Bond’s voice, the rough bassline, the in-your-face percussion – yet it stands on it’s own as an easy-to-listen-to, dreamy pop song.
Bond and Shelton are joined by drummer Nik DeRyss, and Bond tells me the three are still experimenting with their style and sound while they work on writing their debut EP. In the meantime, check out Meernaa live October 15 at Brick and Mortar with Guy Fox and Deerpeople.
