TacocaT at Culture Collide SF 2014
Goodness, it’s a big week for all-encompassing music festivals in the Bay Area. While we’re all recovering from Oakland Music Festival and preparing for the hedonistic grandeur that will be Hardly Strictly, we recommend a more intimate musical affair to ease you into the weekend to come: the second San Francisco installment of Culture Collide, taking place this Thursday and Friday (October 1 & 2) at the Swedish American Hall and DSF Clothing.
For those who don’t know about the history of the festival, it’s the brainchild of Culture Collide, the editorial platform/publishing house started by Alan Miller, the co-founder of Filter Magazine. The festival started out in Los Angeles six years ago with a special angle: to specifically set out to showcase international bands. The festival hit our portion of the western coast (SF) for the first time last year, with headliners Cloud Nothings.
This year, it looks like they scaled things down to two venues, 17 bands, and one night of industry panels for our leg of the festival — but no fear, the international music spirit still rings true! Headliners for this year’s festival will be Milo Greene and Widowspeak, and there’s also a kick-off party/creative summit hosted by the Guardian tonight (September 30) for those of you interested in industry panels and general fun times. You can RSVP via the website and cross your fingers it’s not too late.
You can check out the full lineup and more information about passes below! Happy colliding!
