The yearly Bridge School Benefit Concert—booked and produced by Neil Young as a fundraiser for the special needs school founded by himself and now ex-wife Pegi Young—could be the only acoustic music festival in existence, and even if that’s not true, it’s still probably the best. This year’s festivities will take place at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View on Oct 25-26. Previous years headliners include Guns ‘N Roses, Thom Yorke, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Billy Corgan, Arcade Fire, Dave Matthews, and more.
Although looking at the above list, not a single one of the 9 notable bands I just listed are led by women. Bridge School has always been a bit top-heavy on the dude side. That said, Neil’s done better this year with Dixie Chicks and Sheryl Crow landing as the top two acts for 2015.
Here’s the initial lineup:
Neil Young & The Promise of the Real
Gary Clark Jr.
As usual, Neil will end the show as the “headliner”, even though we’d all rather watch the Dixie Chicks than Young for the 30th year in a row. Still, always good to see the folk legend at work. Tickets go on sale this Friday — lawn seats are a good choice since Shoreline has plenty of screens to let you see St. Vincent’s hairdo up close.
