I am not going to be in SF this weekend. I am not going to be in the Bay Area (been repeating this in my head for the past week). So I am not going to be able to see Diet Cig, a current favorite New Paltz, N.Y. based band of mine, perform at Hemlock Tavern.

I am really upset about this. Diet Cig is one of the cutest bands as of now, using sweet vocals that mix cynical and nostalgic lyrics to create music that anyone can shimmy too. Their lyrics reflect the social anxiety with relationships, how life is not a constant, and growing up. Diet Cig is basically a really adorable and simply existential band. This is why I love them so much: I feel the same way.

Especially with their song “Scene Sick” with the repeating lyrics “I’m sick of hearing about your band / I don’t want to hear about who you think I am.” Diet Cig has been listed as a “Band to Watch” by stereogum and their song Harvard made it as #33 on Spin’s “best songs of 2015 so far” list, beating Drake (#34).

So I am asking you a favor. I can’t go to this show. I am really upset that I can’t go to this show. Please go to this show and then tell me how it was because I AM REALLY UPSET OVER HERE.
