The Regency Ballroom is a fairly large space, built to accommodate big-name touring acts and other high-profile shows (upcoming shows at the Regency include acts like O.A.R. and Owl City), and come fall 2015, a new space will be opening in the same building: Social Hall SF.
In contrast to the Regency’s scale, Social Hall SF will be a more intimate space (600 guests standing/425 guests seated), and will host electronic club nights, seated comedy events, rock concerts, etc.
Handled by Goldenvoice (promoter behind the Regency and the Warfield, another large SF venue), Social Hall SF already has a packed fall schedule, featuring acts such as Neon Indian, Autre Ne Veut, and the Bird and the Bee.
The opening of Social Hall SF is a result of a year-long renovation project of the space at 1270 Sutter Street (a building originally constructed in 1909). The space will have a new sound system, stage, and lighting system, as a well as a redesigned entryway.
Tickets are already on sale for almost all of Social Hall SF’s fall lineup, so be sure to check out the venue’s website to get a taste of SF’s newest space for live music!
