Oakland’s Sexless dubs themselves as a “Bay Area power trio”— on their social media, at least. Whether or not we’d like to believe that, the trio who cultivate a raw, punk sound are releasing their first 7” Don’t Stray on Resurrection Records in early September with a West coast tour in support of the release.

Be warned, Sexless isn’t your grandma’s average three-piece rock band. In an interview with the band’s Kevin Klausen, he states that the name for the group stemmed from the desire to spray paint it on public restrooms and corporate establishments. Don’t Stray displays a progression in their sound in comparison to their early demo— adept at crafting music that can remain as painstakingly raw as a previous release but now instilled with the right kind of maturity, albeit an excelling musical one, at the same time.

If you’re still itching for that new self-proclaimed “power trio” rock, two songs from the new 7″, “Don’t Stray/SXLSS” and “El Borracho” are available on their Bandcamp and can be streamed below. Pick up a copy of “Don’t Stray” at the Resurrection Records webstore or at their record release and tour kickoff at Merchant’s Saloon in Oakland on September 18.
