No matter what anyone may say, the SF music scene is not dead nor is it at a pause. It has just become harder to find, but really it’s only hard to find if you’re not trying. Local bands are not rare – if you go out enough, you will find that 5 out of 11 people say they’re in a band. Local girl bands that have been together since elementary school? THAT’S A RARITY. Indeed, The She’s are a rarity and one that is needed in the SF music scene.
The She’s have known each other since kindergarten and have been playing together since 7th grade, which is impressive. As someone who is also from SF, I barely keep in touch with anyone from grade school, (other than my best friend since 7th grade, and we only play Mario Kart together). So the commitment and friendship in The She’s is real. They have grown together and have seen SF go through so much in such a short amount of time. Not only have they seen their hometown change, but they have seen each other change. They have obsessed about music together since their youth, and now they are creating thire own music that is both nostalgic and new. These girls are talented and not a band to doubt. They have already opened for bands like Best Coast and Girls, and really, if graduating high school didn’t break up them up, then I don’t think anything can.
