If you were anything like me as kid, you were obsessed with Gilmore Girls, The OC, Bright Eyes and Rilo Kiley. Sure, two of those are TV shows, but those two shows and those two bands went hand in hand. Gilmore Girls and The OC were both known for dropping pop culture references and making the weird indie/emo kids feel like they weren’t such losers. Everybody’s dream boy was Seth Cohen and everybody’s dream girl was Rory Gilmore. Those were crazy sad times.

Well, Rory Gilmores and Seth Cohens of the Bay, this Friday, an indie super group for folks like us is coming to town. Phases, formerly known as Jjamz, made up of The Like’s Z Berg, Phantom Planet’s Alex Greenwald, and Michael Runion, (who is just very talented). Phases is not much like those mentioned bands, but they are just as talented and catchy – bringing back the 80’s new wave type of sound that would even make Debbie Harry proud.
