Although we’ve appreciated his work here at The Bay Bridged, Chicago native & Oakland resident Ezra Furman may be in the process of blowing up in Europe. Or perhaps he’s already become a star there and I’m just now noticing. Either way, he’s spent most of May touring Europe, and will return later this summer to hit a host of European festivals. Last week was especially big for Mr. Furman – he performed on Later with Jools Holland, where he absolutely killed it in his $5 dress, and was later called “the most compelling live act you can see right now” by The Guardian. And yeah, he kills:
No Bay Area dates are currently booked, but keep an eye out and be sure to welcome Ezra home in style. His forthcoming Perpetual Motion People, is out July on London’s Bella Union and in the US via Rough Trade, and I can’t wait to hear it.
