Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter TORRES (a.k.a. Mackenzie Scott) is touring in support of her sophomore album, Sprinter, out May 5 (U.S.) on Partisan Records. TORRES will headline an all ages show at Bottom of the Hill on May 13 after sets from Cave Clove and Aero Flynn.

Featuring the critically acclaimed single “Cowboy Guilt” (below), Sprinter is the full-length follow-up to Scott’s self-titled 2013 debut, TORRES. Scott cites English poet John Donne’s 1624 poem “Devotions upon Emergent Occasions” as inspiration for the album, most notably on “Son, You Are No Island.” With deeply personal lyrics and heart wrenching histories, Scott pours her soul over varying guitar chords and noisy synths. NPR’s First Listen has the entire album available for streaming, for now.
