Huichica is back again for 2015, and the boutique festival in wine country is better than ever. The 2015 version of the festival takes place on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13 at Gundlach Bundschu Winery in Sonoma, and it features some of the best independent acts from around the Bay Area and beyond, including Allah-Las, Atlas Sound, Amen Dunes, Jessica Pratt, Shannon & The Clams, Gap Dream, The Fresh & Onlys, and more.
What’s more? Huichica (pronounced “we-cheek-a”) organizers Eric D. Johnson, Jeff Bundschu, and ((((Folkyeah!)))) just added an incredible lineup of food, curated entirely by Swimming.ly, including the likes of KronnerBurger, Blue Plate, The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen, Bicycle Bahn Mi, and Q Craft. Lagunitas will join the fray with their delicious brews, and Gundlach Bundschu will of course provide the vino. Not into the booze? No worries, because Happy Moose Juice will be there with super fresh juice, and Skylite Snowballs’ truck will park at the winery to give festival goers a taste of their childhood all over again.
The best part of all this delicious food and drink? The chefs will create special pairings for the wines. Check out how they go about this ever-so-important process:
Founded in 2010 by Johnson (a musician who played with the Shins and Fruit Bats, among others) and Bundschu (a vintner, natch), Huichica “was built on the concept that dynamic hand-curated music, wine, and food are best shared in beautiful settings with a warm and friendly attitude.” Focusing on local and national indie and folk acts, this year’s festival will feature acts performing on three stages: the Hillside Amphitheater, the Cave Stage, and for the first time, the historic Redwood Barn. The setting is undeniably gorgeous – watch the winery’s video below, which features some a sneak peak at some of their “Rhinefarm Sessions,” performances by visiting musicians playing in different unique spots around the ranch.
So head on up to Sonoma on June 12 and 13 to catch one of the most unique festivals in our little corner of the world. Tickets are very reasonably priced and are going fast, so get yours now before it’s too late – full details are below, after Huichica’s playlist featuring all of this year’s acts.
