Vanwave has been on my radar for a little over a year, when I first heard their haunting take on “Didn’t Leave Nobody but the Baby” of O Brother Where Art Thou? fame. I was captivated, and I’ve been waiting, waiting, and waiting for something new from Vanwave since. Luckily, just last week, they shared a track “Can You See” that shows they’re more than just a few pretty voices. The slow build of layers of harmonies and eventual introduction of a slide guitar combined with slightly surprising rhythms bring welcome additions to their folk/country/blues vibes. Although they recently played Boise’s Treefort Festival, there’s no confirmed local dates or news of a full release for the time being, so you can listen to “Can You See” below below while we patiently wait for more.
