Though Travis Hayes’s last full-length record Young Daze isn’t even a year old yet, the singer-songwriter already has a new batch of songs ready for release. It’s a short and bittersweet three-track EP fittingly entitled Love Songs, a stripped down collection full of gorgeous harmonies, aching acoustic arrangements and a cello part that’ll tear at your heartstrings.
The album is a straightforward reflection on love, that force of nature that has mystified poets, artists and musicians for centuries. Travis tackles the subject matter with a sort of bruised honesty, attempting to make sense of all the conflicting feelings associated with it: joy, pain, confusion, utter ecstasy and enduring hope.
The EP will be officially released next Tuesday, but you can take a listen to “Kate’s Song” now.
