Makthaverskan are a quintet from Sweden who came together as teens in 2009. They were united by a distaste for the polished pop music that was coming out of Sweden and a desire to reinvent this sound, infusing it with more aggression; since then they’ve put out five records of varying length. The group are set to release a new 7″ single, “Witness“, on Run For Records (on 4/18)- a Boston label that started in 2004 and has since become a go-to to underground alternative-rock and indie music curator, already starting off 2015 with amazing releases from bands like Cloakroom.
The group have received a lot of positive feedback over the years for their unique and in your face post-pop music, and will be gracing SF with their sounds on March 28th at Bottom of the Hill – fingers crossed. At the time of writing the group are stuck in Vienna, awaiting visas for their debut appearances in the United States alongside east coast post-punk art group Self Defense Family, and fellow Run For Cover records signee and bay area group, Creative Adult. The tour has been continuing without Makthaverskan, but they’re hoping to add dates in the cities they’ve missed for after the tour. Check out their tour poster below and send them your prayers.
