For the first time in the history of the renowned San Francisco venue The Fillmore, an all-female lineup will take place, featuring local power houses such as Kendra McKinley, The She’s, The Hot Toddies, and Isla Vista locals Rainbow Girls.
The Rainbow Girls, who are presenting the show and headlining the night, are a folk americana band with gypsy style roots. Their sound is energetic, uplifting and catchy. Their most recent release, The Sound of Light, is a cross between modern indie elements and traditional folk roots.
The Hot Toddies, Oakland’s beach-indie-pop trio, will be supporting the touring band and bringing their surf rock vibes to the line-up. Their song “Boy on Bikes” is a hypnotizing and groovy track with some 60s pop sensibilities.
Continuing the surf-dream-pop trait, San Francisco sweethearts The She’s will also be on the bill, bringing a 60s pop sound to the night that is dancey and vibey – the kind of thing you can’t help but sway to. The band also promises to bring a new song titled “Death Dreams” to their set the night of the show.
Kendra McKinley, who will be opening up the night, is a local Bay Area singer-songwriter who has taken jazz elements, a sensual and powerful voice and combined it into a smooth and delightful mix that is irresistible. Her song “Convince Me”, which she also has a music video for, is a combination of jazz-nostalgia and a display of her impeccable vocal abilities.
You can catch all these genres – and we know there’s a lot going on – all in one night. How often does that happen (and happen well, at that)?
