If you’re anything like me you probably missed out on rock band American Football when their self-titled (and still only) debut album came out in 1998. The band made enough of an impression to warrant a deluxe re-release of said album earlier this year and have been making festival appearances along with a handful of headlining shows. They’ve already sold out their Friday night appearance at The Fillmore this week but tickets are still available for their Thursday show.

American Football’s emotional songs have never been more relevant and time has been kind to their unique sound. The talk-like singing of Mike Kinsella over the math rock riffs have never sounded better. Their emotional songs cover a breadth of frustrations often associated with teenage angst but the band filter it in through adult, mature outlook.

Take a listen to “Never Meant” below for a taste of what the band has to offer.

There isn’t much more word from the band as to what’s going to happen after this tour is over, so now’s the time to see them live. If you’re interested in winning a pair of tickets to the Thursday night show we have your hook-up. They’ll be supported by a solo appearance by David Bazan of Pedro the Lion.

To enter for a chance to win tickets to see American Football at The Fillmore, email daniel.kielman@thebaybridged.com with “American Football” in the subject line and your full name in the body of the email. A winner will be selected at random and notified via email.
