If 2014 has taught us anything, it’s that there’s a lot of damn good rock and roll coming out of Oakland, and new band Stalls is no exception. Stalls is the creation of Sam Weiss, who has been a member of Pure Bliss, Violent Change, Mall Walk, and many more, and is joined by Ray Seraphin (Talkies, Violent Change) and Nick Clark (Mall Walk) to round out the group. So far, Stalls has recorded a couple tracks that should give you a pretty good feel for their sound. Both songs are anchored by strong, repeating bass lines that give Weiss’ vocals space to shine – he sings like a tough kid in a leather jacket wielding a switchblade in an 80’s movie, and it’s just about fucking perfect.

Look for an EP on cassette from Stalls on Oakland’s Vacant Stare Records soon, and catch them in person at Brick and Mortar December 6.
