Castle Face is back with the fourth fifth installment of the label’s Live in San Francisco series, featuring Ty Segall Band’s February 2014 performance at Rickshaw Stop. Just like when his other band Fuzz dropped the first Live in SF album, Segall is featured on the cover in black-and-white, but this time we don’t see the frontman’s mug. No, the photo is a closeup of his guitar shredding … taken while he is crowd-surfing.
This seemingly innocuous album cover is instead the perfect entree into what was a raucous evening of the usual Segall fare: fuzzed out garage rock bliss at one of SF’s best venues, with none other than Mikal Cronin, Charles Moonheart, and Emily Rose joining the fray onstage. Castle Face will officially release the record on January 26.
