It’s time for our roundup of all those highlights from the last couple weeks that we weren’t able to feature on their own – here’s the best of the rest, as determined by The Bay Bridged editors.
City-based quartet Quaaludes dropped their Nothing New EP on September 18, and it’s yet another 12 minutes of furiously-paced, rage-driven, soul-baring punk rock:
The creators of The Bay Bridged’s Featured Album for September, Cocktails, surprised everyone with a previously unreleased nugget entitled “Tonic Nights”. The track was recorded during the sessions for their excellent LP Adult Life and is a dose of “blue collar power pop” – some ’80s throwback goodness:
Scary Little Friends released a video for “Devil’s Heart” off their 2013 album From the Beginning, and it’s got a decidedly Appalachian feel that accompanies the folk rock song’s country leanings very well:
Oakland’s Mall Walk release a new EP on October 14 via Vacant Stare Records, and you can now stream both tracks (“False Living” and “Teen Missing”) via Soundcloud. They play Bottom of the Hill tomorrow night in support of Ought and Silver Shadows.
TBB favorite Chuck Prophet is back in The Best of the Rest again. This time, we have two great videos to share – Prophet’s full KEXP appearance from last week and his brand-spankin’ new video for “Wish Me Luck” off his new album Night Surfer. Catch this San Francisco gem tonight and tomorrow night at the Make Out Room, where he’ll be celebrating that new release.
Finally, we’d be remiss if we didn’t note that the one and only Best Coast will be performing alongside Sonny and the Sunsets and Meatbodies at tomorrow’s JanSport Bonfire Sessions from 5–11pm at SOMA StrEat Food Park. More info here (psssst…it’s free).
