Will ’80s nostalgia ever get old? Not if the Art Boutiki has anything to say about it.
However, on the venue’s upcoming ’80s night, which happens this Saturday, “nostalgia” won’t be synonymous with “novelty”: get ready for a solid lineup of Bay Area up-and-comers, including Piranha Party!, The Y Axes, Debbie Neigher, and The Forbin Project, which features Daniel Martinez of San Jose’s Picture Atlantic. Also expect guest DJ sets from Nik and Ryan of Picture Atlantic, as well as work from featured artist (the visual kind) Michael Montoya.
There will also be a costume contest for your entertainment, so come in your crimped, bangled best. Winners will be awarded an ’80s vinyl (hopefully not plucked from the famous vinyl wall). Things start, as usual, at 7:30pm.
