On the heels of their Live Versions release, Australian psych outfit Tame Impala heads out on a very brief tour of the Americas later this year, playing four shows in the States before crossing the Equator for a handful of dates in South America. Their last gig in the good ol’ US of A? A stop at Oakland’s Fox Theater on November 15.
Live Versions is a collection of recordings from Tame Impala’s October 13, 2013 show at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre, and frontman Kevin Parker chose the record’s nine tracks based on how far the live versions strayed from their originals. The goal was to create something new – something the band’s fans didn’t already have. The Riviera show was recorded and broadcast live by WXRT, and Live Versions was originally released solely as limited edition Record Store Day vinyl, but has now received a proper, full release due to its popularity.
Listen to Tame Impala’s performance of “Be Above It” from Live Versions below, followed by details on the band’s November show in Oakland and their full tour of the Western Hemisphere.
