Alaska’s finest, Portugal. The Man, will be teaming up with StubHub tomorrow night for a concert designed to benefit music programs in Bay Area schools through the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation. And here’s the kicker: 100% of the proceeds go directly towards the organization. Not half, not two-thirds. 100%. (That means all of it, for those of you who are as pitiful at basic math as I am.)
The Next Stage Concert Series is a cross-country event raising money for the foundation in five separate local markets with the San Francisco date as the third in the tour. In the words of the band on their decision to join the event:
Where we grew up there was no music education. We think about how different our lives would have been growing up had we had the opportunity to explore our creative sides. As a band, Portugal. The Man has always done whatever we can to encourage kids to explore music and the arts. We are excited to partner with StubHub to help give kids the tools they need to explore their creativity.
Altruism and rock n’ roll, that’s a pretty winning combination.
