What have Andrew Jackson Jihad been up to the last few years? Getting a little more conventional.
Not too conventional, mind you. On their latest record, Christmas Island, Ben Gallaty and Sean Bonnette tone down the vitriol and up the gentle brooding, all while still making music that is still so damn melodic you forget you’re singing along to songs about some of the ugliest human truths. Don’t worry—there’s still plenty of the furious acoustic shredding and really, really fucking clever songwriting that fans have come to love, but it’s countered by some more measured ruminations on what it all means.
Now on tour in support of the new record, AJJ will be swinging through the Bay this week with San Jose’s Hard Girls and Dogbreth, and we’ve got tickets to the Slim’s show below. (South Bay-ers, they’ve got you covered: They’re in Santa Cruz the night after.)
To enter for a chance to win tickets to see Andrew Jackson Jihad at Slim’s, email firstname.lastname@example.org with “Andrew Jackson Jihad” in the subject line and your full name in the body of the email. A winner will be selected at random and notified via email.
