Brick and Mortar is hosting an evening of rock and roll this Friday, July 18, and with Nashville’s Natural Child as the guest of honor, this party is guaranteed to be a wild one.
Wielding a party rock sound that is equal parts country twang and bluesy slacker punk, Natural Child has been bounding around the US in support of its 2014 LP, Dancin’ With Wolves, which officially dropped on Burger Records back in February. With this latest offering, the band proves it can polish its rough edges on tracks like the opener, “Out In the Country,” and the slinky “Bailando Con Lobos,” without losing any of its commanding, casual cool. There’s no a better way to welcome an out-of-town outfit than to have them share a bill with the city’s rock and roll darlings, so Fuzz Box Presents brought in San Francisco heavy-hitters Cool Ghouls to join Natural Child at the Mission Street music house on Friday night. This gig is also the kick off show for the Ghouls’s very own tour — a short but rigorous stint of twelve shows in as many days — so come hang out before they blow up and become a huge festival band.
