Oakland duo Dylan Travis and Nina Chase are no strangers to dark synth pop – the pair began releasing music as Some Ember in late 2011. Up until recently their tracks were only available on cassette, but on June 10 that changed when the band dropped their self-titled debut record via San Diego label Dream Recordings.
The Some Ember LP is clear and cold as ice, anchored in industrial beats and raw percussion wrapped within the sheerness of Travis and Chase’s melodic vocals. The ten track album is part post-apocalyptic palace, part ethereal pop. Stream the entire album below via Soundcloud, and catch Some Ember performing live at the Elbo Room with RedRedRed on Wednesday, June 18.
