The Phenomenauts

Now in their fourteenth year of existence, Oakland’s The Phenomenauts are officially paying musical tribute to their hometown with a brand-new song, “Theme for Oakland”. Stand up, put your hand over your heart, and check it out below.

Currently made up of five men and a robot, The Phenomenauts are half-band, half-legend. A ragtag band of space explorers who proudly claim Oakland (aka “Earth’s capital”) as their home, The Phenomenauts have earned their spot in local music lore as one of the Bay’s longest-running indie bands and the creators of an absolutely unmissable live show, which if you haven’t seen at any point in the last fourteen years, you really need to. See below for more on that.

The Phenomenauts released their fourth studio album, Escape Velocity, earlier this week, and are currently touring in support of it. Upcoming local dates include San Jose on Friday, Santa Rosa on the 27th, and Concord on the 28th.
