“Everybody’s moving to L.A.”
“All the art is happening in Oakland.”
“This place is dead anyway.”
No matter where you look these days, someone’s singing the death knell of not only the San Francisco music scene, but San Francisco as we know it. If you believed most commentators, you’d picture the City as a seven-mile-by-seven-mile wasteland full of Mark Zuckerberg clones renting studios for $5K per month, applying for permits to build a Walmart on every corner from North Beach to Lake Merced, and namby-pamby former suburbanites petitioning to have every music venue shut down for excessive noise.
Well, the fellas in Down and Outlaws are calling bullshit and are hosting Not Dead Yet Fest on Saturday at Thee Parkside as a reminder – nay, a “battle cry” – of just how alive and well the San Francisco music scene actually is, and The Bay Bridged is happy to be presenting the show, which features some of the best and brightest up-and-coming acts from the City and surrounding areas, including Strange Vine, Cellar Doors, Annie Girl and the Flight, Ash Reiter, and more.
Below, check out the playlist of Not Dead Yet Fest bands we put together last month, and get full details on the show including the just released set times. The doors open at 1pm, and the music starts at 2pm, so shake off that hangover and get down to Thee Parkside bright and early so you don’t miss a minute. It’s only $10 – a small price to pay to show your support for one of the country’s best local music scenes!
