Crash Kings

If you don’t know what a clavinet is, you’re about to. The Crash Kings are coming to Neck of the Woods on June 5th, and we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away.

So how does the clavinet factor into all of this? Crash Kings are a total throwback to ’70s and ’80s arena rock, but they’re missing one crucial element…the guitar. Instead, they draw their bone-shaking power from the clavinet, a type of keyboard produced by Hohner from the 1960s to the ’80s. (Thanks, Wikipedia!)

Though they take a lot of cues from the rock-as-theater movement, they’re not all theater. A favorite among more studious musicians, they don’t skate by on the sheer novelty of being a hard rock band sans guitars—they’re still full of fearsome talent. Check out this revue of your favorite turn-it-up-to-11 classics.

They’ll be opening for local titans The Frail.
