The LP, entitled Gilding The Lily, is a work of deliberately lush pop, at least if we can judge by the first two singles released. Both “Games” and “Flowers” echo a dreamy ’60s pop sound while also surprising ears with elements like the use of a tambourine, acoustic guitar and glassy synth all at the same time. Produced by Jorge Elbrecht, whose recent credits include work with Ariel Pink, Violens, and Dinowalrus.
Gilding the Lily is William’s third album, following up Carefree (2008) and Euphoria (2011). Feed upon the first two singles, “Flowers” and “Games”, below.
