A misfit crew, The Tropics are breaking into the Bay Area music scene with a running start. The pop band has been playing together since 2012, and is now gearing up to release their debut Wind House EP, recorded at Different Fur Studios in the Mission district.
Catch a glimpse of the record in “Sleepless”. The video captures a group of youngsters at a sleepover, in a state not unlike the title of the track itself. While the kids play board games, eat pizza, and tell each others’ fortunes with cootie catchers, The Tropics play “Sleepless” on the kids’ bedroom TV, until a magical pillow fight releases them from their television confines into a room filled with feathers.
The video sets a bright horizon for The Tropics – keep an eye out for Wind House later this year. If you haven’t seen the band live before, you can catch them opening for Vacationer and Hellogoodbye at Great American Music Hall on Wednesday, May 21st.
