Damien Jurado is doing something a little different for his recent record Brothers and Sisters of the Eternal Son. Following the release of the January record, Jurado, who hails from Seattle, will not only be playing his new songs, he’ll also be reading from texts he wrote while the recording was in progress.

Jurado actually had a full album already written and ready to record, but a week before he was set to record, he scrapped it. Instead, Brothers and Sister‘s sound is as uniformly melancholy as always, but embraces some sci-fi themes, including the second coming and a UFO or two. And, just to complement the sound, he’s adding in a live reading to accompany his album.

The Brothers and Sister tour comes through San Francisco for an evening at The Independent on May 20, and we’re giving away a pair of tickets to the show.

To enter for your chance to win, email contest@thebaybridged.com with “Damien Jurado” in the subject line and your full name in the body of the email. A winner will be selected at random and notified via email.
