Mirror Travel

Texas-based Mirror Travel will be playing the Hotel Utah this weekend. The trio, which just released its debut full length, Mexico, this past October, is coming back strong after a troublesome time in their previous band, Follow That Bird. The result is a fuzz-filled garage rock album that is part-dreamy, part-winsome.

Mexico is a testament to the talent that these three musicians – Paul, Tiffanie, and Lauren – have. Their sound is raw, edgy, and filled with tons of reverb and delay. Mirror Travel is fast-paced and in-your-face, but elegant in doing so, with vocals that are intense but still smooth to the ear. The title track is captivating and utterly restless, while the song “I Want You To Know” is a whirlwind in itself.  It’s as if you took an acid trip through a Hunter Thompson story, where guitars are whirling past you at the speed of 80 miles per hour in a convertible, vocals are screaming past the speakers, and you’re essentially taken for the ride of your life.

One thing is for sure – it’s going to be a hell of a time seeing this trio live.
