San Francisco record label Sleep Genius is hosting the first showcase since its 2012 launch this Saturday, May 10, at Thee Parkside. The label will present a special guest performance by notorious Austin shoegaze trio Ringo Deathstarr, plus local Sleep Genius artists Bad News, Chasms, Never Knows, and Cry.
Sleep Genius is a small independent label that has introduced some of today’s most promising new artists in the shoegaze, darkwave, industrial, drone circuit, as reflected in Saturday’s lineup. Bad News are already regarded as one the Bay Area’s essential noise-pop acts–while Chasms, another duo, have provided a steady stream of dreamy gloom for the past few years. Never Knows debuted with the “Still Life” 7-inch last year, and is readying an upcoming LP release.
